Have you ever experienced the romantic love or infatuation stage?
It's the kind of fairytale love most people expect to be the norm and to last forever...
All men get infatuated in love at some time or the other. The infatuation stage can even occur several times in a lifetime.
It's a time of sheer ecstasy!
Most love relationships start off in this 'romantic love' stage, which is spontaneous, passionate, even obsessive.
You feel energized, happy, complete, and one with your lover. Everything feels just right, true?
It is during this infatuation stage when you think constantly about your girlfriend, focus on your similarities, and agree on everything. You go the extra mile with no effort, and expect your lover to naturally fill all your needs and wants.
At this point, you dismiss or minimize any of her less-than-desirable traits. Your playfulness, laughter, and sexual energy make you feel alive and you love your partner even more for how she makes you feel.
Because you are oh-so-full of zest and positive energy, you tend to spread it around and share these positive vibes with your friends, strangers and family - usually in this order.
Bottom line? You experience the most intense physical desires, and live in a blissful world of your own where you are convinced that destiny itself brought you together.
"Love at first sight is easy to understand; it is when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle."
The single most important factor behind the sheer madness of romantic love or infatuation your brain is flooded with endorphins ('feel-good' chemicals like dopamine and phenoethalymine); you are literally on drugs.
These neurotransmitters increase your physical energy and sexual desire, making you have a positive attitude just about everything and strong feelings of well-being.
To a great extent, in the infatuation stage you can hardly feel any pain and can go without food or sleep for longer periods of time.
You feel confident, powerful and safe.
Your defenses are down and you are ready to do anything to spend as much time as you can with your lover. As a consequence, you feel even more in love and the cycle goes on until the sheen of infatuation wears off.
During this stage, the two of you bond strongly with each other, giving you the feeling that your love will never, ever go away.
You believe that you'll forever be ensconced in your cocoon of eternal bliss... until reality comes knocking on your door.
You might not realize, but the role of romantic love or infatuation stage is to give the two of you a taste of the potential of your relationship together.
It lasts until you are committed to your relationship, usually 6-8 months. Occasionally, it ends in as little as 2 months or it can last as long as 2 years, depending on how much time you spend with each other.
Unfortunately, the romantic love is a state of "no control and least awareness" that typically lasts until after you move in together. Shortly after the 'honeymoon' is over and the routine sets in, the endorphins subside. Consequently, the infatuation evolves gradually in a phase of common relationship problems, or the power struggle stage.
So if you are now madly in love, go ahead and get lost in the exhilarating euphoria of the romantic love! Enjoy the infatuation stage to the hilt, but while you are at it, start learning about your own weaknesses and your partner's vulnerabilities. Why?
Because this knowledge and the understanding of attracting your soulmate will greatly help you get over the teething problems that will soon engulf you once the giddy days wear off.
Quite frankly, if you want to spend the rest of your life with the woman you now love, you'd better get real and accept the fact that the infatuation stage is not going to last forever; your relationship will inevitably, progress to the next stage of common relationship problems >>
